Shouldn't eradication of famine and hunger come first than laptop project?

Just as the rollout of laptops are underway to the poorest countries, others are questioning its urgency as many children barely have access to basic necessities in life; such as food, clean drinking water, shelter and public health services.

Most families earn less than a dollar per day therefore it would be practically impossible for them to keep their free laptops instead of actually selling them and buy enough food to keep the family surviving for a full year. However, humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross, UNICEF etc are working hard to address the problem by providing free food and medicine and educating future generations so that they can take stronger role in the building of hunger/famine-free nations. For sure it makes sense to fight famine and hunger first in the short run than committing to the laptop project as lives have to be saved.

At the same time, the laptop project should be viewed by developing countries as an overall solution that could eradicate poverty, disease and illiteracy in the long run.
