People meet:
- for business purpose
- for educational purpose
- to create and consolidate social bonding such as love, friendship, or communities based on religion, values, common interests, hobbies...
- and to entertain themselves

City centers usually present the great advantage of concentrating the various places to meet for all the above purposes. Market, offices, shops, schools, bar, restaurants, theaters, religious institutions, etc… are traditionally located downtown, historically by convenience regarding transportation as well as efficiency in human interaction.
