Who are mashups targeted at?

Mash ups are not only restricted to closed knowledge communities but to anyone with access to the internet. They require minimum technical knowledge and therefore custom mashups are sometimes created by unlikely innovators, combining available public data in new and creative ways. More specifically, they target web developers.
Content used in mashups is typically sourced from a third party via a public interface or API.
Today's mashups largely reside within the world of techies, and although anyone can look into mashups, creating them is still out of reach for most business people. This will obviously change as more mashups mature.
