What kind of technological infrastructure is needed to support the future workspace?

The technological infrastructure for the future workspace has to meet the following requirements:
- Interoperatability: In the future workspace, people make use of various different smart devices which all need to be connected to the same infrastructure. It is important that the technological infrastructure support interoperatability of these devices.
- Plug and play: In order to have access to the technological infrastructure anywhere at any time, it is important that users don't need to go through a lot of hassle to get connected. Plug and play abilities of the infrastructure is an absolute must.
- Security capabilities: Security is an important issue in the future workspace. The technological infrastructure must provide users with several security capabalities and standards so that they have the opportunity to connect to company environments in a secure and controlled way.
- High capacity: The technological infrastructure must have enough capacity to support large number of users at the same time without loosing too much network speed. Furthermore, the capacity must be high enough to support audio, video and remote application services over the internet.
- Wireless: The technological infrastructure has to be wireless, in order to provide users access to virtual workspaces at any time from any place. All the current smart devices have WiFi capabilities and future devices will be equiped with innovative wireless connections, like WiMAX for example. - Low costs: In order to make the technological infractructure accessible, the costs for usage have to be low, preferably free.
