What is creative commons?

Creative commons allows the author of an original work to specific their own copyright terms going from a "all rights reserved" policy to a "some rights reserved" policy. It all depends on the author what can be done with the book, he can restrict or allow the following items: copy work, change work, redistribute work and show work to others with added options to restrict or allow it commercially or non-commercally.
