Hey Guys

I am currently working on the future of Google scenario and in our scenario we also mention WiFi and WiMAX. WiMAX could be quite interesting for your question regarding the future opportunities. WiMAX is some sort comparable to WiFi although it uses different protocols for communicating. IT has a big advantage when looking at the broadcasting radius. Theoretical 50 KM is possible although experts say in practise it will be 15KM. With the rise of VOIP, MDA/PDA, more usage of laptops, WiMAX could provide national coverage while cutting costs comparing with the traditional telco's. There are already a lot of projects that want to cover cities (Google vs San Fransisco and Enertel vs Randstad Area in Holland). Furthermore, the installments of the transmitting towers (approx 50.000 euro) are relatively cheap and can be installed anywhere. This means that in the future even monks or other people who do not lack oxygen ;) can make use of Internet (If they want!)

Look it up by clicking this wiki link. In case you would like to see a scenario involving WiFI/WiMAX please follow this link towards my Google Scenario.

Hope it has been to any use. Gl Paul!
