Skills & labour shortages

• Assuming annual employment growth rates of 1-2%, several regions of the EU are predicted to have employment rates of 80% or above by 2010, including south of UK, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, central France, southern Germany, western Austria and the centre of Portugal. Without significant inflows of labour, these regions are likely to face significant shortages of skilled labour
