The recession declared in the western world in 2008 has continued through 2009 even more strongly, making the BRIC countries gain more strength and become stronger. The United States has made several attempts to compensate the fuel prices with the value of the dollar; however, Russia has taken full control over the oil thanks to the big companies that were helped by the state in the early 21st century. While Europe is still struggling with the domino effect from the recession in the United States, the BRIC countries continued to gather more and more capital, increasing the influence throughout the world, making Russia the biggest oil exporter in the eastern and mid western world, China extending its influence over the African continent and making it somewhat of a protectorate by the 2015. Brazil has become the biggest food producer, extending its influence in both the Americas, and Europe, and India has become the de facto outsourcing nation developing and maintaining almost half of the systems in the United States and Western Europe. Due to the significant shift in the balance of powers, the Western World has devoted more and more attention in the intelligence gathering, investing a lot in the cyber warfare departments in the military hoping that it can be used in the near future as a new type of domination weapon. On the other hand, the Internet has become a subject to a bigger control making the big players that are willing and able to develop cyber weapons and intelligence communities a police inside the cyberspace. For this reason, a new type of silent war has begun, mostly among the old rivals in an attempt by the United States to once again prove that it is the strongest nation in the world. In the next 2 years, by 2017 and 2018 the Internet has become so controlled that nations’ borders can practically be drawn, each main player establishing its own domain, using up resources and clever hacking other, smaller nations’ systems in order to conceal vital information and use it when needed in order to launch a bigger strike. In addition, the global warming has taken its course and new and efficient sources of energy are used. Since most of them are proven to be electrically powered and remotely controlled, it means that if one manages to penetrate the defenses of the opponent, it can gain a significant advantage on its power sources, and therefore gain even bigger advantage.

By 2020, the world is run by databases and domains where cyber armies have been silently operating for the last 20 year. Filling over the glass, small provocations and rivalries have become a much more significant factor for some serious conflicts, which due to the major countries big fortifications have become ridiculous to be resolved with conventional weapons, everyone knowing that everyone possesses so much weapons that the worlds ecosystem would be destroyed in no time, leaving the alternative possible scenario of cyberspace domination and waging war in that battlefield, which in a way has also become second life (maybe even primary life) for many people on the planet.
