Prospect of Flexible Display

Flexible display is new thing to appear in the near future. But it is very difficult to define for the flexible display applications including ubiquitous and wearable concept. To forecast mass-production is also very difficult in this time. Nevertheless lots of people think that flexible displays are essential for the future living and rollable displays will be commercialized in the very near future. In my opinion, flexible display will be appeared and will be booming within the ten years because human requirements make the new application goods to the industry. Flexible display makes anybody see and hear with their system at anytime.

- Flat panel display market is going to the saturation point, therefore industries have to make the turning point. - People want to more convenient and joyful life. - The price of flexible display is getting cheaper than now with the progress of the technology. - There is no restriction of the working place in the near future, which means new communication system have to be developed.

Inhibitors :

- It is difficult to manufacture the flexible display due to the processibility. - The cost of materials are very expensive than present technology due to the development of the new materials. - There are an uncertainty in the market making and a difficulty in the reliable materials making.

Paradigms :

Organic materials including flexible plastic, organic semiconductor and other organics should be developed by the human requirement with extremely low cost within the near future. In terms of the integration of the information and ubiquitous environment, flexible display having the multi-function such as computer, TV, and amusement will play a important role in people’s life.

Flexible display can make the big market and big profit within following ten years.
