No more beers
During the last ten years the world economy have not run very well because China has slowed down the impressive growth showed during the late 90s and early 2000s. The EU started to have problems with some of the new members, the new eastern members has not been performing very well despite the big amounts of money that the western Europe countries injected in their economies, the corruption has been being a big problem there and an important part of the eastern europe population moved to the western part of Europe looking for better salaries and better opportunities, so the unemployment has increased dramatically reaching a level of 10% in countries like Italy, Germany and France.
The situation in Middle East is not well controlled and some countries like Iraq and Iran are not producing enough oil for the world consumption. The oil prices have been achieved USD80 per barrel. The high oil prices were also helped from the OPEC policy that has been to produce the only neccesary oil to, not only enjoyed good prices but also to save reserves for the future; not many new oilfields were found during the last ten years.
These situations have stopped the investments in new technologies because the people are only consuming basic things, like food, clothe, medicine, and so on. So the internet has not changed too much from what we know ten years ago, the people still using internet to find information, to use internet banking, and to e-mail (communication). The only part of the internet that has been developed is the internet telephone; almost all the voice communication is going by IP protocol, probably because is cheaper and easier than the old fashion fixed telephone lines that we used to use in the past.
