Description:

Existing laws already regular the advertisements via traiditional media types. But new ways for advertising came out as technology developed. New problems continues to rise. Laws will adapt to new issues arised, and will also regular the future advertising.

Laws on Internet advertising, privacy protection will be major topics, also rules about advertising via other ICT technologies.

Enablers:

o More useage of Internet: With a rise of Internet using time of 30% from 2000 to 2003, it is very obvious that Internet use rate will continues to rise in the future.

o It is easy for Internet sevice provider to collect personal information, and privacy is very vulnerable on website. Many spyware sneak into your PC system and record your habits. Much personal information is available online, even Google search your email and provide you with relevant advtisement. There are rules to regular these activities now, but still far from enough.

o People's tolerance towards privacy offense. Internet users' experience also increased as time went through. The more they understand Internet, the more they fell unsafe on Internet and the need for more specific laws increased.

o Growing diversity of media may make it difficult.

Paradigms:

o Virginia already signed new laws to make spam a felony, and brother and sister were convicted of three felony charges of sending thousands of junk e-mails through servers located in Virginia. The borther was sentenced to nine years in prison, and his sister, Jessica DeGroot was fined $7500.
