Climate change regulations coupled with increased environmental awareness and traffic congestion problems will alter the way people think about travel and therefore they will switch to more efficient ways to travel, as well as to conserve energy, such as by using public transport. Increased use of public transport will will more or less determine the future of transport. The traditional office structure can also change as the concept of city center may become out dated.More and more people may work from home or there can be small clusters of offices spread throughout the country. This will directly affect the travel habits as people may have to travel less as compared to the amount of distances they travel today.
Environmental concern will spread as there may be further damage to our ecosystem, awakening people to the threat posed by greenhouse emissions. Governments will come under increased pressure to take steps to address the problem. Companies will have to adopt a more serious approach to the sustainability issue as more people get aware of the danger facing the environment.

Description:

There is an ever increasing concern for our ecology and with our very existence depending upon the concept of a sustainable planet; it is no surprise that environmental awareness is one of the most sought after topics. There has to be a limit up to which the atmosphere can cope with the greenhouse emissions, and with developing countries joining the race to improve quality of life, there is more industrialization which in turn is increasing the pollution. As climate change disasters become more apparent, environmental awareness will be one and maybe the only key factor to save our planet.

Enablers:

  • Need for a sustainable planet
  • Climate change disasters
  • Scarcity of resources
  • Concentrated efforts by NGO and informed citizens
  • Internet and better communication facilities
  • Rise of independent media

Inhibitors:

Lack of political will
Lack of resources to spread the environmental campaign
Illiteracy

Paradigms:

Environmental concern will spread as there may be further damage to our ecosystem, awakening people to the threat posed by greenhouse emissions. Governments will come under increased pressure to take steps to address the problem. Companies will have to adopt a more serious approach to the sustainability issue as more people get aware of the danger facing the environment.
