Overview Location Based Services
Location Based Services (LBS) are services that are based on the geographical location of the client. Location Based Services are currently strongly associated with mobile telecom operators. However, we would like to look at LBS in a much broader sense.
LBS offers many opportunities. Proximity-based notifications such as targeted advertising, common profile matching (dating) and automatic check-in at the airport are one. Another example is recourse tracking with dynamic distribution. Keeping track of rental equipment or service people.
Proximity-based actuation could enable payment based upon proximity which may come in handy on toll roads.
