At the end of 2008 the United States Air Force has successfully set up its new base of operations for cyber warfare, taking control over large parts of the other military divisions, the Air Force becomes the de facto cyber space security and warfare command. Although, only made public in the United States other traditionally rivaling countries quickly follow the example and while some have already been controlling government systems, most are investing more and more into cyber warfare.

By the end of the first decade of the century, Air force planes, ships and assault vehicles are already equipped with the latest technology making it possible to record the surrounding and make real-time maps as they move along. Enabled by high capacity data transfer through satellites, all the data is gathered and processed by the military intelligence, filling in databases with enormous speed. This is also the point where many countries, especially ones that are already occupied or at war see an opportunity to tamper with data.

Therefore, by 2012, the bot-nets are becoming secondary resource and are used only in critical situations. Real systems penetrations are favored by the majority of organizations and individuals, employed by their governments, in order to exploit systems and corrupt or tamper the data recorded, allowing their own armies more maneuvering space.

For this reason, in the early second decade the biggest risk that the world faces is the actual tampering of data made by deep systems penetrations. In addition, the media such as TV and Radio, who were the dominant communication platforms, have been replaced by the Internet where virtually all over the world the people prefer to get their information. Due to this increased belief in the Internet, the cyber armies have gradually started to take control and begin to treat and classify web sites and TV stations that offer content online as military targets, putting them under constant traffic surveillance and employing offensive conventional and cyber weapons at selected times and places.

By 2015 due to the global economic situation the economic balance of power is slowly changing making emerging countries become wealthier than some old developed countries. However, due to the already established world order, the so called number one nation of the world is reaching its peak in the modern business. The war of the 21st century is what the oil used to be in the 20th century. The conventional warfare has turned out to be a very profitable business even in the early 21st century, where its full potential was just realized. Therefore, although cyber warfare has been established as a new way of waging war, and some even argue that it should also be part of the Geneva Convention, it still serves as a supporting resort, acting only passively, cold war style only with many smaller players that had no saying into the original cold-war. For this reason, the by the 2020, the cyber warfare divisions of any big nations militaries and intelligence agencies are growing exponentially, considering the amount of the entrants on the cyber battlefield, predicting that this form of waging war is yet to show its real face, devastating the planet yet more and more.
