im not really sure the etiquette on adding, i have been playing videogames since about 6 and one of the biggest problems is that as a quasi-generational past time - there is no control factor or censorship over computer game use, my parents generation doesnt understand enough about computer games and they are still thought of as a childs past time or a form of entertainment thats harmless by adults. while we (the younger generation) are unwilling to censor our own use or limit any aspect

the medium to younger generation is also slowly showing an inability to create media specifically for 'children', we are unable to take ourselves out of our own time zone and comfort zone for long enough to think about creating a game or a 'task' that can be played by children - instead we make child versions of adult games almost as if we are faling to take them seriously

one example of this is the number of new genres that have actually been made since videogaming reached its last height under ATARI, we are just rehashing with greater graphics the same idea and updating

i think the main challenge should be being to create a world inside a computer that is not like our own, rather than continuously simulating this one

negative aspects of computer games are addiction, poor social skills and character flaws as a result of lack of other human contact, younger children are now being detected withan increased tendency for violence and some of our youngest generation have no hand to eye coordination, resulting in a lethargy and dislike of traditional outdoor sports and activities which is fuelling obesity in children

advantages are that violent characters or individuals need not necessarily be as violent, or can 'release' some of their violent energy in a computer game
