Description:

Patients in the healthcare system are becoming informed and demanding consumers. When critical health issues are not affecting a consumers health, they act as shrewd customers that know what is best for themselves,

With an increasing availability of information, consumers are more aware of their helathcare options and possible ways to treat afflictions. They expect better treatment and are even willing to organize themselves in cosumer groups to get it.

This behavior can stop completely when a consumer is a 'patient' - someone who is afflicted with a serious medical condition. At this point, health is nore important than money.
