In this scenario, China will continue focus on economy growth and want to take part in the world affairs more for the future years. So China may use the same norms and protocol for Internet as other countries do like IPv6 to increase the compatibility with other countries. More online services are provided by foreign companies and also Chinese people can get access to more online application. The increase of the content on the Internet would increase the number of users in China and vice versa. This will lead the development of Internet in China to a blooming in 2015.
Looking at today 2005, China’s GDP is still growing very fast and it is estimated that it will grow at around 9% in the future years. Although there is an issue of uniting Taiwan and mainland, Chinese government still decides to focus on economy growth first. After joining the WTO in 2001, China has promised free tax for importing telecommunication devices in 2005 and allowing foreign investors occupy 50% of the shares in ISP and telecommunication companies. Facing this big market and huge opportunity, there would be much more foreign infrastructure providers come to China in the coming two years. As a result there would be huge infrastructure development in China. The popularization of the Internet would increase especially in the Western part of China. Furthermore, getting access to Internet would be cheaper and in more ways. On the other hands, the growth of the economy may increase the leisure time for normal Chinese people making them the potential Internet users for online games and etc..
Because of the development of infrastructure in 2006 and 2007 and Chinese Government planned more Internet application to the Beijing Olympic Games, IPv6 would be introduced to China around 2008. It will increase the total throughput, security and the service quality. And during this period of time, 3G network would be popularized. Be attracted by the huge Olympic Opportunity and quite mature infrastructure situation, more and more foreign service providers would come to China around 2007 and 2008. Based on the economy growth, no war against Taiwan and all the new technologies, we have confident to predict a successful Olympic Games in 2008. A successful Olympic Games would bring China many incomes and investments. With these incomes, China can invest more in both economy and technology development.
In 2010 World Expo, China would expose new Internet applications and those foreign service providers would also provide new services. Around 2012, these new applications and services would be popularized. Although there would still be the strict control of the contents on Internet, but these new services and applications would bring a lot convenience to people. Because of the important role of Internet in people’s daily life, more and more educated people and the increased leisure time, the number of users and also the network devices would increase dramatically.
With the fast economy growth and the popularization of network devices, there would be more Internet service users and more online applications. That brings the blooming of online services in China.
