Will Russia’s dependency on oil bring about the same collapse as occurred in Soviet Union?

It is hard to judge right now. Apparently, the political stability and rising oil price in recent years did make Russia better off than before. It also make the government take the new investment in new projects and business infrastructure lightly. The highly dependence on oil reserve may affect its long term competitiveness. The balance of rule of law and the social welfare system might be the key indicator to monitor.
