Description:

R&D of the Storage system special case the Solid State batteries, so the world right now is suffering from being very few energy storages method which can hold energy, as most of the energy produced is consumed so not much energy are left for storage, the future should have more energy storage for long term goals like the solid-state batteries which already started to be used in some cars as it has really good feature compared to other batteries.

The liquid metal battery is comprised of a liquid calcium-alloy anode, a molten salt electrolyte and a cathode comprised of solid particles of antimony, enabling the use of low-cost materials and a low number of steps in the cell assembly process.

Enablers:

The liquid metal battery is comprised of a liquid calcium alloy which has many features:

- It uses a low-cost material
- The electrolyte is thermodynamically stable with the electrodes
- The negative electrode is fully consumed when discharged, and then is reformed on every cycle, resulting in a highly repeatable process with no memory effect
- Capacity fade with time isn't a problem in Metal Liquid batteries anymore.
- It can work with a high performance even if the external Temperature reached 500 C
- higher energy Density with the same size
- Ambri’s commercial systems will be packaged in 500 – 1500 VDC containers with up to 1 MWh of capacity
- Require Zero Maintenance
- Ambri cells is far simpler and requires 1/3 of the capital expense per MWh of production than lithium-ion
- Safer, longer life batteries for long-duration applications have emerged, no Risk for Exposition.

Inhibitors:

It is still a very new technology, and not many companies except for Ambri are based on that technology. the future looks so bright with the liquid metal batteries compared to the Lithium-ion ones but we still need some years of testing for this new technology to see if it holds what they have promised and what negative sides which we could see in the future.

we need a massive investment in these new technologies once it has proven their efficiency to expand the whole energy storage system worldwide.

Paradigms:

nowadays, a lot of storage systems are not reliable and cant be trusted for example (lithium-ion) to store the energy for a long time without explosions or risk, so we will have a new way of storing energy which will be having big capacity with a smaller size and much longer lifetime and zero risk and 33% of the li-ion cost.

Experts:

Ambri

Timing:

in five years all of the energy storage systems will be changed once we got a good price for the Solid-state batteries.
