What role will security play in the future workspace?

Security plays an important role in the future workspace. Companies are still very reluctant in sharing their mobile working environment because trust and insight in current security measures are low. Furthermore, because of confidentiality of company knowledge, trade secrets and espionage problems, security plays and important role in continuous access monitoring and control to and protection of company data.

There is a necessity for trustworthy security policies for sharing collaborative working spaces. This also goes for the tools which will provide the collaboration services, as users will not accept them when security is not trustworthy in their eyes. But the most critical security issue is probably the protection of and controlled access to company data by employees at remote mobile locations. In order to be able to do their job, they need access to the knowledge bases of the company. There have to be tight security measures which will protect company data from unauthorized access and there has to be trust in these security measures.
