The 1500 sq. km. area of enterprise in California that came to be known as the Silicon Valley has become the gold standard for several international cities. Bangalore acquired the title well ahead of the others and as the author, James Heitzman, notes in his book, it is recognised as India's Silicon Valley even by those who live in the "original" in the U.S.
