• Personal Reflection
  

This course has given me different point of view in looking every thing. As most people, I have the tendencies to trust public opinions or any opinions provided by the scientists and analysts. I used to believe that what public accept as true should be true. It is the same as the opinions from the scientists and analysts. I did not check or look for other possibility.

On the contrary, after joining this class, I start thinking the world from different perspective. I begin considering the future that everybody else agrees will surely happen.

One example for this consideration is my team’s project for this class about the future of Wi-Fi. I used to trust that Wi-Fi would certainly have good future since it is cheap and people’s mobility rapidly increases. However, when I did this project, I found that there were some other possibilities as well. For instance, people still do not like this technology due to its lack of security.

• Business Reflection
  

I used to work in an IT consultant company. In my company, we have the same opinion and overview that Linux is very attractive in the future. Our reason is that since Linux is free and open source, our customers must be interested in using it since it will make the cost to buy the software from us is cheaper than using Windows, for example.

Our other consideration is that Indonesian government has legalized the law for piracy products, including software, such as Windows. With this law, many software sellers selling piracy software have been arrested. This condition is conducive for the development of Linux in our country.

However, after learning from this course, I have begun thinking about other option for the future of Linux. There are a lot of possibility may happen in the future.

An example for my consideration is that people do not want to change to Linux and prefer paying a lot of money for buying the original Windows to using Linux. The reason for my consideration is that Linux is not easy to be used especially for ordinary people. The other reason is that the software companies, such as Microsoft and Oracle, give cheaper price for their products selling in Indonesia with the consideration that Indonesia is a potensial market but the price for their products is still too expensive for people in Indonesia.

This is only one option from several other options that may happen in the future of Linux, especially in my country, that need to be considered by my previous company for making company strategy and planning.

• Academic Reflection
  

From this course, I got useful knowledge. I know how I should make good scenario and what the process to create it is. This knowledge is useful in my learning process especially for my future. From this course, I realize that we should make some scenario as our consideration in making company’s strategy and planning.

Moreover, from the project that my group did for this class, I know a lot of things connected to Wi-Fi, such as about Wi-Fi itself, Wi-Max, and the governments’ regulation about them.

In summary, this course has helped me to improve my self especially my knowledge and my way of thinking.
