How will the future workscape be equiped? Which devices will be used?

In order to have mobile access to the working environment at anytime, the mobile worker will be equiped with smart devices. Smart devices can process information, signals, graphics, animation, video and audio. All of the devices include internet access and browsing capabilities. They must have trustworthy security capabilities. They are capable of communications and information functions.

One or more of the following devices will be used for the future workscape:
- Laptops: Small mobile personal computers equiped with WiFi network cards for wireless internet access
- PDA's: Handheld devices used for email, internet access, calendar, address book, task list, memo pad, clock, and calculator software. Often they have synchronization tools for synchronizing with your personal computer. PDA's might offer voice capabilities, but they are data-centric
- Smartphones: A smart device which integrates the functionality of a mobile phone and a PDA. Smartphones are voice-centric devices.
- Tablet PC's: A slate-shaped mobile computer. Its touchscreen or digitizing tablet technology allows the user to operate the computer with a digital pen instead of a keyboard or mouse.
