From Janunary of 2005, IOT WG (Working Group) and CT (Conformance Test) Task group were working for interoperability between Wibro and other profiles of mobile Wimax. The members of WG and CT are ETRI, Samsung, LG, POS-Data, KT, SKT, Solitek, SKTelesys, Intel Korea. And Feb.~ Jun. of 2005, WG and CT members choosed IOT profiles of RAS and ACR side.

With theses efforts, the IEEE 802.16e technology standard was adopted as the main technology of WiBro at the end of 2005. The Mobile WiMAX profile standard for guaranteeing compatibility between equipment was also made based on the WiBro profile, successfully creating the foundation to advance into the global market.

Ex.) Ian Keene, a research vice president with Gartner Inc said, "WiBro, a similar mobile broadband standard developed in Korea, is also gaining momentum. Telecom Italia and an operator in Brazil said recently that they plan to build WiBro networks. WiBro and mobile WiMax are designed to interoperate. "WiBro is going to meld into WiMax," said Keene. "It's a start that allows some case studies and some experimentation."
